With a new streaming feature (Torrents Time), The Pirate Bay has probably got the big name streaming services quaking in their proverbial boots. This means users no longer need to use a client like BitTorrent to download something and then watch it. You can stream movies which aren’t even out on DVD directly in your browser. Naturally, we don’t advocate the use of torrent sites to share copyrighted content. But we do believe in the freedom of the internet, we’re here to provide independent and objective information. You can make your own decisions as to the legality and morality of your actions. And there are legitimate uses of torrent sites.

How to stream free movies from The Pirate Bay

First what you need to do is visit The Pirate Bay and search for whatever movie or TV show episode you want to watch. Note that you can’t just type the URL into a browser – read our article on how to access blocked torrent sites for advice on how to find it. Once you’ve found chosen a result in the listings, you’ll see a ‘Stream It!’ link alongside the usual ‘Get Torrent’ – see above. Unfortunately it’s not simple case of clicking it then enjoying the show, but there are only a couple of things you need to do. After you click ‘Stream It!’ a new window will open with a video player. If you click on it then you’ll be prompted to download ‘torrentsTime-download.exe’. Choose Save File and then install the software from your downloads folder. Also see: How to avoid the latest Netflix scam.

The installer window might not actually pop up but just let it do its thing (you’ll see an installing animation over the picture in the video player). Once it’s done you’ll need to allow the ‘TTplugin’ to run so hit ‘Allow’ or similar on your browser.

You’ll then get a message about using a VPN, which you can get rid of fairly easily by clicking continue then closing it. Once you get back to the page the video player will search for peers in order to stream the movie – when enough have been found the movie or TV show will buffer and begin playing. You can make it full screen and use the other buttons in the player for basic functions like pause.

We tried this in Firefox but it will work for a lot of content on The Pirate Bay. The quality wasn’t very good. And to return to our point at the start, we don’t recommend or condone this!
