How to enable sync settings in Windows 10
Before you can get the sync feature up and running you’ll first need to log into your device using your Microsoft account. Once this is done tap the Windows key and click on the Settings icon (which looks like a gear cog) that you’ll see in the bottom left corner of the screen.
In the window that appears you’ll see an option for Accounts. Double click on this and then select the Sync your settings section at the bottom of the left hand column.
In the main pane you’ll now be presented with a list of the various items you can sync. At the top of the list is the Sync settings option itself, which you’ll need to click to On if you want anything to work at all. Beneath this is the Individual Sync Settings section, which contains controls for the various elements available. These include the Theme, Internet Explorer settings, Language preferences, Ease of Access, and Other Windows settings.
Why is the passwords sync option not available?
One option that might be greyed out is Passwords. To enable this you’ll first have to verify your identity. It’s a simple security measure that is well worth setting up on your devices. All you need to do is click on the Verify option and then select either the email or mobile number to which Microsoft can send a security code.
Once you’ve received the message you just enter the code into the box, click Next, and you will return to the Settings page where the Passwords option is now available. Be sure to check these settings on your other devices and adjust them accordingly if they differ in any way. Now you should be free to move between your laptop, desktop, tablet, or phone knowing that everything you need is already there.
