It looks very 2019, but will be one of the first phones launched in 2020 with a reflective glass rear casing and vertically aligned quad camera set up. Realme is Oppo’s sub-brand but is increasingly operating as an independent company, as suggested recently by its CCO. The release of the X50 5G should see the Chinese market gain a more affordable 5G handset compared to those from Oppo and Samsung. Much like the price differences between Huawei and Honor phones, Realme handsets often have the same specs as Oppo phones but sell for a more affordable price. The X50 5G will most likely have an in display fingerprint sensor but more importantly might pack in the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 or 765G chipsets that were unveiled at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit earlier this month. The SoC has an integrated 5G modem, meaning any mid- to high-end phone that ships with it will necessarily be 5G capable. The X50 5G will be one of the first phones to try and drag 5G into the mainstream in 2020 – even if it doesn’t see an official release outside of China.
